This time there's no mystery about what's put a smile on my face and a bounce in my step. How can I not have when I had such a wonderful night with Justin? My feet may ache a little from all the dancing, but I know it's worth it.

Besides, it's nothing a little magical pain relief can't fix, and I know just who to call for that. I pick up one of the naked cupcakes in front of me and start piping icing onto it.

The door to the kitchen creaks open and my cousin steps inside, flashing me a smile. "You said you'd trade pain relief for cupcakes?" Willow places the coffee cup next to me.

"I did. There's a box of Azíl's favourites waiting for you behind the counter."

"How do you know the cupcakes aren't for me?"

I raise an eyebrow. "I just do." I pick up the latte and take a sip. "Ah, that's the stuff." I set it down and continue to ice my cupcakes.

"Dare I ask what you were doing last night to need this much pain relief this morning?" Willow asks.

"She had a date," Rowen says as she walks in, followed by my other sisters.

Uh-oh, I may be about to be interrogated.

"So it either went really well, or really badly," Willow quips.

"What kind of dates do you and Azíl go on to need painkillers when they go well?" I ask, unable to keep the disbelief out of my voice.

She shrugs. "We normally just go try a new restaurant, you know what he's like."

Mmm, she has a point there. Azíl's favourite part of the modern world is food, and he lets us all know it. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, especially because he says such nice things about my cupcakes to me.

"I didn't think you were scheduled to bake today," Clover says, studying my cupcakes intently.

"I'm not," I admit. "But inspiration struck and sometimes it's better to lean into it. What are you all doing here anyway, shouldn't someone be guarding the shop?"

"We're not open yet," Clover points out. "We're here to start the day."

"Oh, right." Oops. Somehow I didn't think about that.

Rowen chuckles. "You're really lost in a world of your own sometimes, Oak."

"It's fun. Want to try one?" I ask my older sister, holding out a cupcake to her.

"What is it?" She takes it, eyeing it suspiciously as if it's going to do something bad to her.

"Raspberry and white chocolate," I respond.

"And the emotion?"

"First kiss."

She purses her lips, clearly unimpressed by my use of an emotion like that.

"It's not going to make you want to kiss anyone," I promise. "It'll just give you the glow of a first kiss, that's all."

"Hmm."

"I'll take one," Clover says, leaning in and snatching two of the cupcakes from my tray and handing one to Hazel.

"Great. I need to know if the balance is right." I pass one to Willow too, glad I made a full batch and didn't just do enough for my sisters to try.
